Temperature: "SubZero"

(Opening begins at the 0:36-end mark from the theme from the final season of American Gladiators original run play the camera pulls back to see James and everyone else on top of a slab with the words “The Last Of The Americans” on it before cutting to James in his office)

TLOTA:
I'm James Faraci The Last Of The Americans and the views that I'm about to express are that of my own and some of yours.
We're all aware of the amazing animated Batman classic that is "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm" (Cut to opening credits of "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm" before cutting to clips of "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm" as James does a voiceover)

TLOTA (Voiceover):
And it is well deserved of that recognition. While I do agree with SFDebris that the Small Stakes is what makes this movie, I wholly disagree with him on this not being epic. It's Epic in scope, it's epic in the storytelling, it's an epic in all the right places. There is a reason I watch it every February 14th. It's a reminder that above all else that for the Dark Knight like the rest of us finding and holding onto the one love we have will be as uphill a battle as trying to stop any monster who wants to destroy Gotham. (Cut to James physically)

TLOTA:
However by the mid 1990's after a few years on Fox Kids, Warner Brothers not only had their own network but decided to join in the Weekday/Saturday Morning Kids Programming block known as "Kids WB" and they wanted Batman on their Programming Block and to help Warner Brothers decided to make a straight to video animated movie which would be somewhat of a bridge from the time on Fox Kids to "Kids WB". That movie was "Batman/Mr. Freeze: SubZero" (Show opening credit of "Subzero" before cutting to Clips of "Batman/Mr. Freeze: Subzero" as James does a voiceover)

TLOTA (Voiceover):
And for many Batman fans this movie should be considered worthy of the same praise "Phantasm" but like "Mystery Of The Batwoman" and some others in this same Batman universe. But why is that? To me it's just as good "Mask Of The Phantasm" but people don't talk about this one. Why is that? What could've kept this one from succeeding?(Show "Batman & Robin" poster with the losing horns from "The Price Is Right" playing before cutting to James physically)

TLOTA:
Well after that movie came out, no wonder every Big Batman Project was DOA for a while.  (Cut to clips of "Batman/Mr. Freeze: Subzero" as James does a voiceover)

TLOTA (Voiceover):
Yeah coming out around the same time as what many still call one of the worst Batman movies didn't do this movie any justice but is it good? Well let's find out and if you have a copy feel free to join in and if you haven't seen it, there are spoilers you have been warned. First off we start off with the plot, Mr. Freeze voiced by Michael Ansara is enjoying a quiet life working on finding a cure for the Disease his wife Nora has that is until a surfacing Submarine shatters Nora's Cryogenic chamber. In an act of desperation he contacts an associate named Dr. Gregory Belson voiced by George Dzundza and Dr. Belson believes the only course of action is a transplant surgery, The only one who matches Nora's rare blood type is Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl voiced by the late Mary Kay Bergman. So it's a dueling race. The first one being that of Batman racing to Stop Mr. Freeze and Dr. Belson from killing Barbara Gordon to save Nora Fries and of course the other race is to save Nora Fries from dying. Can Batman & Robin save Barbara Gordon? Will Nora Live? Well if you've seen the movie then you know what happens. But what about the animation style does it hold up? I will say and defend 2-D Animation and it looks so amazing. The 3D Computer generated animation surprisingly good as well, though unlike when they used it in just the opening to show the depth of darkness in Gotham, it's used very sparsely in shots you may not have thought were there but it is in this movie. (Cut to James physically)

TLOTA:
But are the characters better here in comparison to "Batman & Robin"? Yes! a hundred deca-quadrillion to the Tri-quadrillionth power times, Yes!
(Cut to clips of "Batman/Mr. Freeze: Subzero" as James does a voiceover)

TLOTA (Voiceover):
One of the best things about this animated movie is that Mr. Freeze ACTUALLY sounds the way he should, emotionally cold even when he's smiling and happy. Michael Ansara's inflections and tone fits Mr. Freeze like the freeze ray in Freeze's hands a lot more than (Cut to EVERY single Ice Pun out of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze then to James saying "Him!" before returning to the clips of the movie as James does a voiceover) Then of course the immortal voice of Kevin Conroy's Batman. Everyone who reads a Batman Comic reads Batman in Kevin's voice for a reason because he embodies all the aspects of Batman and Bruce Wayne. Now for Loren Lester's Robin, A LOT of people's reaction to Robin is and always has been somewhat negative. But believe me when I say yes, there are a lot of people who find Robin annoying, I'm not one of them. Loren's portrayal is definitely different from that of Burt Ward's portrayal of The Boy Wonder and it shows. He does have moments where he can be whiney but those moments are few and far between. Loren's Robin will disagree with Batman with few repercussions but still a lot of people still dislike Robin. Me personally I liked him. Then there's Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl played by played by the late Mary Kay Bergman. She did amazing as both. Playing Batgirl as badass as the character should've been and showing the depth of caring Barbara has. (Cut to James physically)

TLOTA:
But how does it stack up in comparison to "Mask Of The Phantasm" or for that matter the Batman Animated Series that we all know and love?
(Cut to clips of "Batman/Mr. Freeze: Subzero" as James does a voiceover)

TLOTA (Voiceover):
I will say that the movie does have the quality animation like the show and "Mask Of The Phantasm" and the voice acting is on-par with all that has come from the series thanks in no part to legendary voice director Andrea Romano and the story while is no "Mask Of The Phantasm" it does hold it's own and doesn't drag, it also allowed until the New Batman Animated Series and Batman Beyond a sense of closure to Mr. Freeze's Character Arc. I also have to applaud Shirley Walker for her musical contribution and the use of the Danny Elfman Batman opening theme. I really did feel a sense of gladness knowing that Nora would survive even if the world believed her husband had died. Overall I did truly enjoy this film, It should be considered as worthy as "Mask Of The Phantasm" and I do recommend this movie. You can find it on Blu-Ray & DVD and Digital Download. Give it a watch and see a Batman & Mr. Freeze that truly is Cool! (Cut to James physically)

TLOTA:
I'm James Faraci The Last Of The Americans and I'm gonna take it easy by going on vacation for my sixth anniversary! (James puts on a Fez and walks away before cutting to James in his living room)
